Birth story

2nd March 2011 (38 weeks, 6 days pregnant)
I woke up at about 4 in the morning with some pain and was SUPER excited (i was so ready to have this baby) They were all over the place and weren't really at all. I told James and we stayed in bed and slept, he had the day off work because we were so sure today was going to be the day. By the time 9 am came around they had stopped completely. I was devastated. It was summer and I was hot sticky and very much pregnant and over it. I needed to get out of the house to take my mind off everything, so we went down the road to the rain forest, thinking a walk might get something started. Long story short James made me run, yes run, through the forest, dragging me by the hand, he was is a stubborn man, no matter how much I protested he made me keep going.
the rest of the day we ate and slept and watched movies. I went to bed that night convinced this kid was never coming out.

3rd March 2011
I awoke yet again at 4 am with pains and went to the bathroom. This is it I thought to myself, something just felt different, i woke James and told him yet again i was having pains. we started timing them, they were between 8 and 5 minutes apart. I called my hospital and let them know what was going on, I had an appointment that morning so they said if i can hold out till then just come for my appointment and they'll check me out.
We went to the hospital, which is a 40 minute drive, for my 11 am appointment, the midwife told me I was barely dilated and it could go on for days, to go home and come back when I felt I couldn't deal with the pain anymore. I had no idea what was going on.
Not knowing what it was like to be in labour i listened and we made the 40 minute trip back home. i could feel my contractions getting worse and worse the hole drive.
James ran a bath for me and we called my Mum to let her know what was going on. she could hear in my voice I was not dealing well with the contractions and was furious they sent me home. She advised we go back asap.
James rang the hospital to let them know that we were returning and make sure we weren't going to get sent away again.
The drive back was HORRENDOUS! My contractions where only minutes apart and so so painful, James sped the hole way there afraid we weren't going to make it in time. What normally takes 40 minutes took 20.
I had 4 contractions on the way up to the birth suits and was crying by this point. the lady at the desk told me tears were good and that we were going to have a baby today.
They put me in the birthing suit and took my obs, seconds later my water broke. the midwife asked if i felt better..and i did, it was so much pressure alleviated. then she casually said, well they're about to get worse and from that second, it was on. i had no break in between contractions, all i remember was pain. it was 12 30 pm by this time.
I stayed in the shower with James spraying the nozzle on my belly, constantly breathing on the gas. i was in a completely different world, trying to block out the pain, i don't remember much from when my waters broke.
I remember telling the midwife that I had the urge to push, she was so not interested in hearing about it, it seemed like she didn't believe me, she asked how old I was before she asked if I could go back to the bed so she could check me.
i was 10 centimeters and it was time to push.
After 10 minutes of pushing at 3:27 pm, Sebastian Robert Walter Deane was born. I was so shaky and didn't want to hold him, i needed to rest. the next thing i clearly remember is being in the maternity ward with James and my mum and just being so incredibly happy that my boy was finally here.
